Seller Policy

By submitting offers on Want To Buy you agree to the following rules. They exist to protect buyers and the integrity of the marketplace.

Last updated: June 2026

Zero tolerance for counterfeits and misrepresentation

Selling counterfeit, fake, or misrepresented cards results in immediate and permanent account ban with no appeal process. This includes — but is not limited to — proxy or reprint cards sold as authentic, cards with falsified grading slabs, cards with concealed damage or alterations not disclosed in the listing, and any cert number that does not match the card shipped.

Identity verification

To prevent banned sellers from creating new accounts, Want To Buy reserves the right to verify seller identity at any time using government-issued ID, bank account ownership records, address verification, or other identity verification methods. Any new account found to be operated by a previously banned user will be permanently banned immediately, with funds in transit reversed where possible.

Sellers above a certain transaction volume may be required to complete Stripe Identity verification before further payouts are released. We do not store identity documents on our own servers; verification is handled by Stripe under their regulated KYC framework.

Listing requirements

  • For graded cards, sellers must provide the cert number, grading company, and a direct link to the cert's lookup page on the grading company's official site. The cert details must match the actual slab being shipped — buyers are expected to verify the cert link before accepting, and mismatches discovered after delivery are treated as misrepresentation under the dispute policy.
  • For raw cards, you must disclose every visible flaw (whitening, edge wear, scratches, surface marks) in your offer notes.
  • Offer photos must be your own — stock images, listing-site reuploads, or competitor photos are grounds for rejection.

Fulfilment requirements

  • Seller card photos are strongly recommended on every order but only mandatory for transactions over $5,000 USD. Orders with no seller photos that result in disputes will be resolved in the buyer's favour.
  • For raw card transactions, sellers should upload card photos directly within the order message thread so both parties have a timestamped record.
  • For transactions over $5,000 USD, seller card photos are mandatory (minimum 4 timestamped shots — front, back, both corners; cert visible for graded) and a packing video is strongly recommended.
  • Ship within 48 hours of buyer approval using the agreed shipping method. Provide tracking. Signature-required orders must be shipped with signature service.
  • No off-platform payments, no off-platform communication that bypasses buyer protection, and no shipping outside the agreed method.

Buyer unboxing video — mandatory for any dispute

To open a dispute on any order — regardless of transaction value — buyers must provide a continuous unboxing video showing the sealed package and shipping label before opening it. The moment tracking shows delivered, the buyer receives an immediate push notification and email reminder: "Your order has arrived — you must film a continuous unboxing video showing the sealed package and label before opening it. This video is required to open a dispute if there are any issues. Film now before opening."

Strikes and bans

Lesser violations accumulate strikes as described in the Rating & Strike Policy. Severe violations — counterfeits, identity fraud, ban evasion, payment manipulation — result in permanent bans without warning.
