1. Prohibited conduct
- Users may not manipulate pricing through coordinated offers or fake buy orders.
- Users may not interfere with another user's transactions.
- Users may not use information obtained on Want To Buy to contact other members outside the platform to buy or sell cards.
- Users may not post buy orders for prohibited items including counterfeit cards, stolen goods, or items whose sale is restricted by law.
- Users may not create multiple accounts to circumvent suspensions or bans.
- Users may not engage in shill offers — submitting offers on their own buy orders or coordinating with others to artificially inflate offer counts or prices.
2. Fee avoidance policy
Avoiding the 5% platform fee — whether deliberately or by mistake — undermines the platform's ability to operate and protect users. Fee avoidance includes but is not limited to:
- Agreeing to complete a transaction initiated on Want To Buy through an external payment method.
- Asking buyers or sellers to pay outside Stripe.
- Splitting a transaction to reduce the total value below fee thresholds.
- Cancelling a transaction on-platform to complete it off-platform.
Fee avoidance results in immediate account suspension on first offence and permanent ban on second offence. Want To Buy reserves the right to charge the applicable fee on any transaction found to have been initiated on the platform and completed off it.
3. Rating and feedback integrity policy
Ratings must reflect genuine first-hand experience of a transaction where an offer was accepted by both parties. The following are prohibited:
- Leaving ratings as leverage to obtain refunds, discounts, or additional items not agreed at time of purchase (feedback extortion).
- Coordinating with others to leave positive ratings without genuine transactions (rating manipulation).
- Threatening to leave negative ratings unless demands are met.
- Leaving ratings that contain hate speech, personal information, or content unrelated to the transaction.
Admins may remove ratings that violate this policy. Users found manipulating ratings face immediate suspension. Each party may only leave one rating per transaction, and ratings are linked to a specific verified order ID. A maximum of 10 ratings per user per 24 hour period may be submitted to prevent bulk manipulation.
4. Member behaviour policy
All users must treat each other with respect in all platform communications. The following are prohibited in any message thread, buy order note, or public profile:
- Threats, harassment, hate speech, and discriminatory language.
- Spam, unsolicited promotional messages, and repeated unwanted contact.
- Impersonating other members, Want To Buy staff, or grading company representatives.
- Providing inaccurate information in buy orders, fulfillment offers, or profiles.
All messages are stored and monitored by Want To Buy administrators for policy compliance and dispute resolution as disclosed in the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.
5. Off-platform contact policy
Users may not share or request personal contact information — including phone numbers, email addresses, social media handles, or external payment links — within any Want To Buy message thread, buy order, profile, or public area. Users may not attempt to complete transactions initiated on Want To Buy through external channels.
Violations are detected automatically by the platform's message filtering system and are logged for admin review.
- First offence: formal warning.
- Second offence: account suspension.
- Third offence: permanent ban.
Moving a transaction off-platform additionally voids all buyer and seller protections.
6. Buyer protection policy
Want To Buy guarantees that buyers who follow the platform's verification and dispute procedures will receive either the item as described or a full refund of their Stripe-held funds.
Protection applies when:
- The item does not arrive within the agreed timeframe.
- The item is significantly not as described compared to the seller's submitted photos and cert information.
- The item is confirmed counterfeit.
Protection does not apply when:
- The buyer initiated contact outside the platform.
- The buyer failed to submit a required unboxing video for a dispute on transactions where it is required.
- The buyer agreed to waive protection.
- The transaction was completed off-platform.
7. Seller protection policy
Want To Buy protects sellers from abusive buyer behaviour.
Sellers are protected when:
- A buyer opens a dispute without following the required unboxing video procedure where applicable.
- A buyer leaves retaliatory feedback after a correctly completed transaction.
- A buyer provides false information in a dispute claim.
- Tracking confirms delivery and the buyer claims non-receipt without evidence.
Sellers are not protected when:
- They shipped an item not matching their submitted photos or cert information.
- They failed to ship within the agreed timeframe.
- Their account has active strikes related to the disputed transaction.
8. Enforcement
Want To Buy may take the following actions for policy violations, in order of severity:
- Formal warning.
- Temporary buying or selling restriction.
- Account suspension pending review.
- Permanent ban.
Severe violations — including counterfeit sales, ban evasion, fraud, and fee avoidance — bypass the warning system and result in immediate suspension or permanent ban. All enforcement decisions are logged in the admin dashboard.
Users may appeal suspensions by contacting support within 14 days, except for permanent bans issued for counterfeits, fraud, or repeat ban evasion, which are final and not subject to appeal. Enforcement actions are applied to the account and not the individual — Want To Buy reserves the right to permanently ban any new account found to be operated by a previously banned user, regardless of the infraction that led to the original ban.
